For more than a decade, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been hailed as America’s most awarded SUV, so there’s much anticipation about the 2026 model year. The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets some very exciting upgrades, including an all-new engine, new and updated features, and a streamlined trim lineup.
“The Jeep Grand Cherokee set the standard for SUVs and grand adventures more than 30 years ago, and it continues to drive them forward today,” Bob Broderdorf, Jeep brand chief executive officer, said in a press release.
Broderdorf continued, saying that this Jeep SUV combines new turbo power with four-wheel drive (4WD) capabilities, and it provides a suite of standard and available amenities. This Jeep SUV is ready to “tackle both every day and extraordinary adventures”.
Like the 2025 model, there are three 2026 models: the two-row Jeep Grand Cherokee, the three-row Jeep Grand Cherokee L, and the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe.
The highlight of the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is an all-new 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo engine that melds the latest powertrain design and engineering with “motorsport-proven combustion technology”.
This allows the new Jeep engine to outperform similar four-cylinder engines. And it does so with lower emissions and improved gas mileage.
“With the Hurricane 4 Turbo, we’ve created a force to exceed the high expectations that Jeep Grand Cherokee owners have for power, performance, and refinement, along with the added benefit of enhanced fuel economy,” said Micky Bly, Stellantis senior vice president, Head of Propulsion Systems Engineering, in a press release.
The press release also notes that this new Hurricane 4 Turbo engine “marks the industry’s first high-volume application of turbulent jet ignition technology to improve power and boost efficiency”.
The new 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo engine delivers 324 horsepower. When compared to the previous standard V6 engine, we see an increase of 31 horsepower. It generates 332 lb-ft of torque.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a 529-mile best-in-class estimated driving range on a single tank of gas. The Jeep Grand Cherokee towing capacity is a class-leading 6,2000 pounds.
This new four-cylinder turbo engine is made in America at the Stellantis Engine Plant in Dundee, Michigan.
In addition to a new engine, the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets interior and exterior updates.
Exterior: The Jeep Grand Cherokee exterior features newly designed headlights, an updated seven-slot grille, a modified rear and lower fascia, and new exterior trim finishes. Fathom Blue, Steel Blue, and Copper Shino are three new exterior paint colors available for the 2026 Grand Cherokee.
Interior: The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee interior increases both comfort and convenience with features like a new standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, which allows you to access Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and more through the Uconnect infotainment system. There are also new available interior features to improve your drives around Richmond, like active driving assist technology, a 10.25-inch passenger display, and a premium McIntosh 19-speaker sound system
For 2026, this midsize SUV is available in three trim levels: Laredo, Limited, and Summit.
2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo: This is the base trim of the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Fans of off-road driving will appreciate that this trim now offers the Selec-Terrain 4×4 system.
The Laredo Altitude package improves safety with standard traffic sign recognition and intersection collision assist.
2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited: The middle trim level ups the comfort and entertainment with a nine-speaker Alpine premium audio system, leatherette upholstery, and heated second-row seats. There are two available packages for this trim level.
The first is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Reserve, which is designed with Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, 20-inch black wheels, and a digital rearview mirror.
The second is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Altitude. This builds on the Reserve package and adds a panoramic sunroof.
Available features for the Limited trim include a 360-degree camera, a night vision system, and an integrated off-road camera.
2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit: The Summit is the top trim of the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It’s outfitted with new Oak and Liquid Chrome interior accents, a suede headliner, Palermo leather upholstery, massaging seats in the front row, and an exclusive 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. This audio system features the most available speakers in its class.
This system provides the most available speakers in its class. The Grand Cherokee Summit is also equipped with the Quadra-Trac II 4×4 system that’s paired with an air suspension.
All 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim levels offer features like the available rear-facing Fam Cam, class-exclusive front-passenger infotainment units, and a hands-free active driving assist system.
