JD Power recently released its 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, and the RAM 1500 ranked number 1 in the Large Light Duty Pickup category. This RAM truck gained 13 points year over year, moving from fourth to first place in this category.
Whitten Brothers CDJR of Richmond shares more about what makes the RAM 1500 the most reliable truck on the market in the large light duty truck category.
The U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study measures issues in 184 specific areas, including driving assistance, climate, features/controls/displays, exterior, driving experience, seats, interior, infotainment, and powertrain.
The study, now in its 37th year, looks at original owners of 3-year-old vehicles and assesses the problems they’ve experienced over the past 12 months. The results are represented as problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). Vehicles with lower scores are considered more dependable.
The 2026 study is based on information from 33,268 original owners of vehicles from the 2023 model year after 3 years of car, truck, van, and SUV ownership.

The RAM 1500’s rise to number 1 is backed by the RAM 1500’s powerful performance and the brand’s commitment to building trucks that people can rely on day after day. By earning the top spot in the large light-duty truck category, the RAM 1500 also demonstrates RAM’s commitment to improvement and refinement in recent model years.
The RAM 1500 is backed by America’s best full-size truck 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.
